Rožmberk nad Vltavou For tourists, Hotel U Martina is located in a very attractive region of South Bohemia directly on the bank of the Vltava River near the popular towns of Český Krumlov and Vyšší Brod and two border crossings to Austria (Studánky, Dolní Dvořiště). We offer several possibilities for utilizing your leisure time.

There is a landing stage directly by the hotel. You can rent small boats here from us to take down the Vltava River.

Option 3 – cultural activities

During the summer season, plays and tours are offered at the Rožmberk Castle. Night castle tours with ghosts are especially popular.

Rožmberk Castle and historic museum
The oldest seat of the Rosenbergs. First written mention in 1253. Originally a Gothic fort, later rebuilt in the Renaissance and Neo-Gothic style. The last owners were members of the Buquoy aristocratic family. The castle was made accessible to the public as one of the first museums in Czech in the middle of the last century. Two traditions meet in the museum. The Rosenberg tradition, reminding us of the castle’s founders, is represented by the Renaissance graphite decoration of the exterior facades and beautiful painted interior decorations (especially the famous “Music Niche” in the Knight’s Hall).

The Buquoy tradition celebrates the history and merits of the dynasty that owned the castle until 1945. The castle’s appearance and furnishings have changed little since its adaptation to the Romantic style. The interiors, decorated mostly in the Neo-Gothic style, are equipped with precious pieces of furniture, some of which are decorated with beautiful carvings directly for the needs of the museum. The chateau’s picture gallery contains a few precious paintings from the Czech and European late Renaissance and Baroque period. The armory contains a unique collection of weapons, armor, and war relics. The Rosenberg heritage has been and still is guarded by the mysterious Perchta of Rosenberg, the “White Lady”, whose painting hangs in one of the chambers.

Option 4 – winter sport activities

A ski slope with ski lifts is located only 20 kilometers away. The terrain is suitable also for cross-country skiing. Complete ski equipment can be rented directly at the slope.
